Jhapa Administration Works to Maintain Social Harmony After Sunsari Incident

Jhapa’s district administration office has increased its efforts to maintain social harmony in the region following a recent unpleasant incident in Sunsari district.

The local administration has prioritized discussions and meetings with stakeholders and community leaders to prevent any disruption to religious and social harmony in the area.

During a meeting with local journalists, Jhapa’s Chief District Officer, Shivaram Gelal, shared that he has been visiting Muslim settlements in Kachankawal and Jhapa Municipality, engaging in direct conversations and reconciliation efforts with local leaders and religious gurus.

Gelal stated that religious gurus have expressed their commitment to creating an environment of mutual brotherhood and tolerance at the grassroots level.

Efforts to Maintain Social Harmony

As part of its efforts to maintain social harmony, the district administration office has held discussions with the chiefs of all 15 local levels in Jhapa.

Local levels have been urged to organize harmony meetings at the ward and grassroots levels, and municipality chiefs have been requested to exercise caution.

Considering the possibility of unexpected events or risks, all security agencies in Jhapa have been put on high alert, according to Gelal.

Appeal to the Public

The district administration office has appealed to the general public not to follow misleading and provocative content on social media.

Gelal has specifically requested journalists in Jhapa to refrain from spreading false information and to immediately verify and disseminate factual information.
