Lumbini Province has restructured its ministries to make the administration more effective. The provincial government, led by Chief Minister Chetanarayan Acharya, has reduced the number of ministries from 12 to eight.
According to Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Ratnabahadur Khatri, the restructuring aims to streamline the administration. The new structure includes the Chief Minister’s Office and eight ministries.
The Youth and Sports Ministry has been merged with the Social Development Ministry. The Industry, Tourism, and Transportation Ministry has been dissolved, with the industry and transportation portfolios transferred to the Home Affairs and Law Ministry.
The Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Ministry has been merged with the Urban Development Ministry. The Forest and Environment Ministry has been renamed the Forest, Environment, and Tourism Ministry, with the addition of the tourism portfolio.
The provincial cabinet meeting also made permanent appointments and postings of two senior officials of the Provincial Agriculture Service, based on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission. Ram Prasad Pandey has been appointed and posted as the Director-General of the Agriculture Development Directorate, Rupandehi, and Bhaskar Paudel as the Director-General of the Livestock and Fisheries Development Directorate, Rupandehi.
