Nirmal ‘Nimsdai’ Purja, a renowned Nepali mountaineer, died in a snowstorm on Broad Peak in Pakistan, prompting his hometown of Annapurna Municipality in Myagdi to declare a mourning day on Sunday.
The municipality announced on Sunday that all its offices, ward offices, health institutions, and community schools, except for essential services, would remain closed on Monday as a mark of respect for the late climber.
The municipality expressed its condolences to Purja’s family and offered its deepest sympathies to those grieving his loss.
