Nepal Sees 71,775 Foreign Tourists in July, China Records 61% Increase

Nepal welcomed 71,775 foreign tourists in July, a 2.3% increase from the same period last year. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, the majority of tourists came from India, with 23,490 visitors, accounting for 32.73% of the total arrivals.

China saw a significant increase in tourist arrivals, with 11,099 visitors in July, a 61.09% rise from the same period in 2025. This is also 8.65% higher than the pre-pandemic level in July 2019.

The United States ranked third, with 7,754 tourists visiting Nepal in July. Other countries with significant tourist arrivals include Bangladesh, with 4,179 visitors, the UK with 3,773, and Australia with 2,428.

Region-wise, South Asian countries accounted for the largest number of tourists, with 29,755 visitors from SAARC countries, making up 41.46% of the total arrivals. However, this number is 11.93% lower than the 33,787 tourists from SAARC countries in July 2025.

Other Asian countries, excluding South Asia, accounted for 17,424 tourists, making up 24.28% of the total arrivals. This represents a 33.05% increase from the 13,052 tourists from other Asian countries in July 2025.

Europe accounted for 9,279 tourists, making up 12.93% of the total arrivals, while the Americas accounted for 8,824 tourists. Oceania and the Middle East accounted for 2,607 and 736 tourists, respectively, while Africa accounted for 324 tourists.
