Nepal’s Hulaki Highway Nears Completion

Nepal’s Hulaki Highway, a vital road connecting the country’s eastern and western regions, is nearing completion. The highway, which spans 406.43 kilometers from Siraha to Sarlahi, has seen significant progress, with 347.63 kilometers of road already blacktopped.

According to the Hulaki Highway Directorate, 24 bridges have been completed, and 90% of the road has been blacktopped. The project is expected to be finished within the current fiscal year, with a total length of 1,792 kilometers once completed.

The highway, considered the backbone of development in the Madhesh Province, has seen intense construction activity, with 19 bridges in the final stages of completion. The remaining 58.8 kilometers of road are currently undergoing the tender process, with 12.8 kilometers already contracted out.

Krishna Kumar Mahat, chief of the Hulaki Highway Directorate, stated that work is progressing with the aim of completing the project within the current fiscal year. The completed highway will significantly improve connectivity between the eastern and western regions of Nepal.
