A Nepali animated fantasy-adventure film, ‘Lost in Mandala’, is set to make its mark in the global market, becoming the country’s first animated feature film to do so.

The film, inspired by Nepal’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, is being produced by Incessant Rain Studios and NIMBES Capital in partnership with Apple Entertainment, a leading film distributor in Nepal.

‘Lost in Mandala’ tells the story of a 12-year-old girl and her friends who embark on a journey to save their world from an evil force. The film’s narrative is woven around universal themes of friendship, love, and courage.

The film’s director, Kiran Bhakta Joshi, is a veteran in the animation industry, having worked on several Hollywood projects, including ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Joshi has brought his international experience to the project, blending it with Nepal’s cultural heritage.

The screenplay has been written by Hollywood writer Jack Stentz, known for his work on ‘Thor’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’. The film’s production team includes Dipa Chipalu Joshi, co-founder of Incessant Rain Studios, who has worked on several international projects, including ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘The Hunger Games’.

Apple Entertainment, which has acquired the distribution rights for ‘Lost in Mandala’ in Nepal and select international markets, plans to release the film in cinemas across the country and abroad.

The film is expected to open up new possibilities for Nepal’s animation and film industry, showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage to a global audience.

Bipashyana Shrestha, managing director of Apple Entertainment, said the company was excited to distribute the film to a wider audience. ‘We are thrilled to have the opportunity to distribute ‘Lost in Mandala’ to a wider audience, both in Nepal and internationally.’
