The government has decided to refund the education and health equalization fee collected so far within 15 days to the concerned service recipients.
A notification to this effect was published in the Nepal Gazette on Thursday.
Exercising the authority granted by Section 18, Subsection (1) of the current fiscal year’s Economic Act, arrangements have been made to fully exempt the education and health equalization fee.
Background
Prime Minister Balendra Shah had announced the abolition of the education and health equalization fee on Shrawan 5.
Following this, the Council of Ministers meeting held on Shrawan 6 had decided to abolish the fee.
According to a notification issued by Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, the amount collected as education or health equalization fee so far must be refunded to the concerned payer within 15 days.
If the amount is not refunded within the specified time period, it must be deposited into the federal treasury.
