Nirmal Purja’s Team Goes Out of Contact on Pakistan’s Broad Peak

Nepal’s Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister, Khadka Raj Paudel, expressed his deep concern over reports that Nirmal Purja, a renowned Nepali mountaineer, and his team have gone out of contact while attempting to climb Broad Peak in Pakistan.

Minister Paudel stated that he was distressed by the news and revealed that he has been in regular contact with Pakistani authorities involved in the search and rescue operations. ‘We are deeply concerned about the news of Nirmal Purja, also known as ‘Nims Dai’, and other Nepali climbers going out of contact in Pakistan,’ Minister Paudel wrote on social media.

‘We are in regular contact with Pakistani officials and are receiving updates on the situation,’ he added. ‘Our thoughts and best wishes are with the climbers and their families. We hope they will return safely.’

Nirmal Purja, a Nepali mountaineer of international repute, was leading a 10-member international team to climb the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak in the Karakoram mountain range of Pakistan when they lost contact.
