Nepal Police Ban Leave Amid Rising Tensions in Tarai-Madhesh Region

Nepal Police have issued a circular banning leave for their personnel, except for maternity and sick leave, amid rising tensions in the Tarai-Madhesh region.

The Police Headquarters issued the circular to all police units across the country, directing them not to approve any other type of leave.

The move comes as protests that began in Sunsari have spread to Morang, Siraha, Dhanusha, and Parsa, following clashes between two groups.

According to security agencies, the protests have turned violent after the death of three people during security operations.

As tensions escalate, the district administration offices in Sunsari, Morang, Siraha, Dhanusha, and Parsa have imposed curfews and prohibitory orders in various areas.

Additional police personnel have been deployed in these districts to tighten security.
