A three-member committee has been formed by the Madhes Province Police Office to investigate the death of a 15-year-old boy who was shot during a protest in Golbazar, Siraha.
The incident occurred on Thursday during a clash between protesters and security personnel, resulting in the death of Ganesh Yadav.
According to a statement released by the Madhes Province Police Office, the committee, led by Police Inspector Bhesraj Rijal, will investigate the incident and submit a report.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Siraha, Chetraj Baral, confirmed that one person had died due to gunshot injuries during the protest.
Another protester, Subhash Thakur, was injured and has been sent to Dharam for further treatment.
Following Yadav’s death, angry protesters have been demonstrating, placing his body on the road.
Local authorities are trying to negotiate with the victim’s family to take the body to the hospital.
The area is currently under heavy security presence, with Nepal Police, Armed Police, and the Army deployed in the region.
Although the protests have subsided in most parts of Madhes, the situation in Siraha remains tense.
Protesters have set fire to a supermarket in Golbazar, causing an unknown amount of damage.
Security personnel have used tear gas to control the protests, and demonstrators have blocked roads in various areas.
In other districts of Madhes Province, protests have decreased after the imposition of a curfew and the deployment of the Army.
After violent protests erupted in various districts on Thursday morning, local authorities had imposed an indefinite curfew in several areas, including Siraha, Dhanusha, and Parsa.
The joint presence of Nepal Police, Armed Police, and the Army has been increased to maintain peace and order.
Although protests have subsided in most areas, the situation in Siraha remains tense due to the death, protests with the body, and the arson incident.
