Nepal Govt Reaches Five-Point Deal with Microfinance Victims, Protests Called Off

Nepal’s government has reached a five-point agreement with microfinance victims, bringing an end to protests and demonstrations across the country.

The agreement was reached after a meeting between the Ministry of Finance and the Microfinance Victims’ Struggle Committee on Friday night.

According to the agreement, a task force will be formed to address the problems faced by microfinance victims, and a rehabilitation program will be implemented for those affected by problematic loans.

The agreement also includes provisions for reviewing the laws and regulations related to microfinance institutions, taking action against those involved in illegal lending and abuse, and ensuring that the Nepal Rastra Bank enforces the rules and regulations strictly.

Following the agreement, the Microfinance Victims’ Struggle Committee has announced that all protests and demonstrations across the country have been suspended.
