Nepal Government Reaches 7-Point Agreement with Families of Deceased

A 7-point agreement has been reached between the families of Om Prakash Mehta and Jay Prakash Mehta, who lost their lives in an incident in Devanagunj, Sunsari, and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the agreement, the government will immediately initiate the process of declaring the deceased as martyrs and provide a relief of 1 million rupees to each family.

The agreement also includes a commitment to conduct a fair and effective investigation into the incident and take necessary action against the guilty under the prevailing laws.

Furthermore, an investigation into the legal status of the madrasa in Devanagunj-3 and related matters will be initiated immediately.

The agreement also includes provisions for providing employment opportunities to one member from each of the deceased’s families, implementing the recommendations of the investigation committee, and constructing a memorial park in memory of the deceased in coordination with the local government.

The agreement was signed by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung on behalf of the government and representatives of the deceased’s families.

After the agreement, the affected families expressed confidence that the government would implement its commitments in a timely manner.

The government also assured that all the points mentioned in the agreement would be implemented in a phased manner.
