Hulaki Highway Enters Final Phase of Construction

A major infrastructure project in Nepal’s Madhesh Province has reached its final stages of construction. The Hulaki Highway, which spans from Siraha to Sarlahi, is expected to play a crucial role in the region’s development.

According to the Hulaki Highway Directorate, over 90% of the road construction work has been completed, with 347.63 kilometers of the 406.43-kilometer stretch already blacktopped. The remaining work is being carried out at a rapid pace.

Twenty-four bridges have been completed so far, with 19 more in the final stages of construction. The directorate has prioritized the completion of the remaining road and bridge construction work.

The Hulaki Highway Directorate chief, Krishna Kumar Mahato, stated that the project aims to be completed within the current fiscal year. The progress of the construction work has been satisfactory, with 29.98 kilometers of road completed in Siraha, 91.56 kilometers in Mahottari, and 151.51 kilometers in Sarlahi.

Once completed, the Hulaki Highway will stretch for 1,792 kilometers, connecting the eastern and western regions of Nepal. The project is expected to boost trade, agriculture, and overall economic activity in the Madhesh Province.
