Gaza Under Fire: Eight Killed in Overnight Israeli Strikes

At least eight people have been killed in overnight Israeli strikes on Gaza, local officials have confirmed. The attacks, which took place on Saturday night, targeted various residential buildings across the region.

According to Gaza’s civil defense agency, a man and his wife were killed in an Israeli helicopter attack on an apartment in central Gaza. Several others were injured in the attack. In another incident, an elderly person and a child were killed in a strike on an apartment in western Gaza City.

In southern Gaza, three people, including a child, were killed in an attack on an apartment in Khan Younis. This brings the total number of fatalities to 16, including eight others who were killed in separate attacks on Saturday.

The Israeli strikes come despite Hamas’ reported agreement to a potential ceasefire deal proposed by US President Donald Trump. The plan includes provisions for the transfer of arms and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.

However, Israel has yet to officially respond to the proposal. Citing Israeli political sources, AFP reported that Israel will not withdraw its troops until Hamas is fully disarmed.
