The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation has expressed serious concern over the recent unrest, violence, and disruptions in various parts of eastern Nepal and the Tarai region.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the federation stated that despite the constitutional right to express dissent and demands peacefully in a democratic system, violence, vandalism, arson, and activities that disrupt social harmony are unacceptable under any circumstances.
According to the federation, such violent incidents pose a significant threat to citizens’ right to life and also have a negative impact on the information technology sector, industries, business activities, and the overall national economy.
CAN Federation has urged all concerned parties to renounce violence and adopt high restraint, seeking a swift solution to the problems through democratic processes, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
It has also requested the Government of Nepal and the Home Administration to ensure the safety of citizens, private and public property, and take necessary steps to restore normalcy in public life and business environment as soon as possible.
The federation has appealed to all citizens, political parties, civil society, businesspeople, professionals, youth, and media personnel to play a positive role from their respective positions in strengthening ethnic, religious, and social harmony and brotherhood.
In conclusion, the CAN Federation has reiterated its commitment to the establishment of lasting peace, the rule of law, and a favorable business environment in the country.
