Tensions Rise in Biratnagar After Protests Over Recent Incidents

Protests erupted in Biratnagar on Friday in response to recent incidents in Devanagari and Golbazar, Siraha. The demonstrations, which included burning tires in the city’s main commercial area, caused tension and disrupted daily life.

The protests were sparked by the death of two individuals in a police shooting in Devanagari-3, Kapilvastu, and another incident in Golbazar, Siraha. The demonstrations led to the closure of shops in the main market area and disrupted transportation.

However, the situation was quickly brought under control by the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, who were deployed in large numbers to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. The police intervened and cleared the burned tires, restoring order.

Currently, a large number of security personnel are deployed in the city’s main intersections and sensitive areas. The Morang Police have stated that they are conducting regular patrols to prevent any untoward incidents and strengthen security.

The District Administration Office, Morang, has appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and cooperation in maintaining peace and security. The administration has also urged the public not to spread rumors on social media and to refrain from any activities that could disrupt social harmony.

Although the situation in Sunsari is expected to return to normal after an agreement with the Home Minister, the impact of the incident has reached Biratnagar. While the market area is slowly returning to normal, the security agencies remain on high alert.
