The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has expressed concern over recent incidents in some parts of the Tarai region and urged all parties to prioritize restraint, social harmony, and national unity.
In a statement released today (Thursday), the Chamber emphasized that Nepal is a country based on mutual respect, harmony, and coexistence among various religions, cultures, and communities.
The Chamber stated that the diversity of the country is its greatest strength and that social harmony and tolerance are the shared responsibility of all citizens.
The Chamber appealed to citizens to stay away from rumors, misinformation, and any form of violent activities in sensitive situations.
The statement noted that no disagreement or difference of opinion can be greater than human life, social harmony, and national unity.
The Chamber of Commerce praised the efforts of the government, local administration, security agencies, people’s representatives, opposition parties, and community leaders to restore peace, security, and normalcy in the affected areas.
The Chamber urged all concerned parties to continue coordinating and cooperating with each other based on open dialogue, transparency, impartiality, and mutual respect.
The statement requested religious leaders, social organizations, youth groups, civil society, media, and the private sector to actively contribute to promoting social harmony, developing a sense of respect for all religions and communities, and creating a united environment.
The Chamber emphasized that lasting peace and stability can only be achieved through the collective efforts of all.
The Chamber noted that economic prosperity and social harmony are complementary to each other and that a stable and secure environment is necessary for business, industry, and investment to flourish.
The Chamber believes that unity among communities strengthens families, society, and the economy.
The Chamber expressed its commitment to supporting the necessary positive initiatives for the restoration of affected businesses, community cooperation, and rebuilding public trust.
The statement expressed confidence that the private sector can play a significant role in reconstruction, revival, and long-term peace and prosperity through cooperation with the government, local communities, and stakeholders.
The Chamber emphasized that the current time is a priority for tolerance over division, dialogue over confrontation, and national unity over differences.
The Chamber appealed to all Nepalis to further strengthen the glorious tradition of harmony, tolerance, and social unity.
The Chamber expressed confidence that through cooperation, trust, and unity among the government, opposition parties, private sector, community leaders, civil society, and the entire Nepali people, peace will be restored soon in the affected areas and those areas will become more united, strong, and prosperous.
