A 60-year-old pedestrian, Ratna Vik, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Surkhet’s Ward No. 11, Biratnagar Municipality.
According to Kavindra Singh Bohora, Information Officer and Police Sub-Inspector at the Surkhet District Police Office, the incident occurred on Thursday morning when a vehicle with license plate number K.P. 02001-1094 hit Vik near the Dhuliyabitan area.
Vik sustained head and spinal injuries and was rushed to Karnali Care for treatment. He was later referred to Nepalgunj Nursing Home and then to Lucknow City Hospital in India, where he died en route.
Police have taken the 23-year-old driver, Raju Sunar, into custody for further investigation, said Bohora.
