Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has appealed to the nation to maintain social harmony and refrain from spreading rumors and hate speech following a series of deadly incidents in Sunsari and Siraha districts.
In a televised address, PM Shah expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the government is committed to taking action against those responsible for the violence.
The Prime Minister stated that the government has formed an investigation committee to look into the incidents and that those found guilty will face strict action under the law.
He also urged citizens to be cautious of misinformation and rumors spread through social media and other channels, and to rely only on official information released by the government.
PM Shah emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives and property, and the maintenance of social harmony and peace, are the top priorities of the government.
He also reminded the public that the Constitution of Nepal guarantees the right to freedom of religion, culture, and tradition, and that the government is committed to upholding this right.
The Prime Minister appealed to all citizens, civil society, religious leaders, political parties, and the media to work together to maintain social harmony, peace, and national unity.
He concluded by saying that the government is committed to taking strong action against anyone who tries to disrupt peace and harmony in the country.
