Nepal’s High Court in Birgunj Leaves 29% of Cases Unresolved

High Court Birgunj has yet to resolve 29% of its cases. A total of 2,378 cases from the fiscal year 2082/83 remain pending out of the 8,224 cases registered and transferred to the court.

According to the court, 5,846 cases were resolved in the fiscal year 2082/83, which is 71.08% of the total cases. In the previous fiscal year 2080/81, 4,528 out of 8,000 cases were resolved, while in 2081/82, 4,735 out of 8,329 cases were resolved.

Justice Gokarna Dangal of the High Court Janakpur, Temporary Bench Birgunj, informed that among the pending cases, 987 are expected to be resolved within six months, 669 within a year, 282 between one to 18 months, and 21 cases have been pending for over 18 months.
