Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has been appointed as a senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). The decision was made during the party’s central committee meeting, which was held recently.
According to RSP General Secretary Vipin Kumar Acharya, the party’s chairman Ravi Lamichhane proposed the appointment of PM Shah as a senior leader, which was unanimously approved by the central committee. The decision was made in accordance with Article 22, Sub-article 11 (A) of the party’s constitution.
The meeting also paid tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in recent incidents in Sunsari and other districts. The party expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.
RSP Reviews First Historic Convention
The central committee meeting also reviewed the party’s first historic convention, which was held from the ward level to the central level. The meeting acknowledged the weaknesses and shortcomings at each level and decided to conduct a thorough study of the entire process to make the party more robust and mature.
The meeting also decided to form a ‘party secretariat’ in accordance with Article 23 of the party’s constitution. The secretariat will consist of the party chairman, elected office bearers, and other senior leaders.
Ministers to Hold Monthly Meetings with Central Committee Members
The meeting decided that the ministers from the party will hold monthly meetings with the central committee members to discuss contemporary and multi-dimensional issues. This is aimed at making the ministers’ work more people-oriented and improving coordination with the party.
The central committee also issued a directive to all party members to refrain from sharing or disseminating information about suicide and self-immolation on social media. The party expressed its concern over the increasing number of such incidents and urged its members to be more sensitive to social issues.
