Nepal’s government has taken a tough stance against counterfeit products, with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies ordering the seizure of over 100 suspicious items from the market.
Minister Gauri Kumari Yadav directed the Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection to take immediate action against the sale and distribution of counterfeit products after receiving information about their presence in the market.
The department has intensified market monitoring and seized over 100 suspicious products, which are currently undergoing testing in laboratories to verify their quality and authenticity.
Minister Yadav warned that anyone found guilty of compromising consumer health would face strict legal action, and directed the department to take action against those responsible once the test results are out.
Department Director Moti Sapkota said that legal proceedings would be initiated against individuals or organizations found guilty based on the test reports.
Consumers have been urged to report any suspicious or counterfeit products to the relevant authorities immediately.
