A court in Bhaktapur has rejected a request by the police to extend the detention of Durga Prasai, a medical professional and engineer.
Prasai was arrested on Sunday night from his residence on charges of cybercrime, public immorality, and disturbing public peace.
The police had sought an extension of his detention, but the court ordered his release.
Earlier, Prasai’s wife Uma had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court, claiming that her husband was arrested illegally.
