The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has expressed deep concern over the recent incidents in the Tarai region, urging all parties to prioritize national unity and social harmony.
In a statement issued on Friday, Ashar 15, 2083, the Chamber expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The Chamber emphasized that Nepal is a country based on mutual respect, harmony, and coexistence among various religions, cultures, and communities, and that this diversity is the country’s greatest strength.
It also stressed that protecting and promoting social harmony and tolerance is a shared responsibility of all citizens.
The Chamber appealed to the citizens to stay away from rumors, misinformation, and any form of violent activities during this sensitive time.
The statement also noted that human life, social harmony, and national unity are more important than any differences or disagreements.
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce praised the efforts of the government, local administration, security agencies, people’s representatives, opposition parties, and community leaders in restoring peace, security, and normalcy in the affected areas.
It also urged all concerned parties to work in coordination and cooperation based on open dialogue, transparency, impartiality, and mutual respect.
The Chamber requested religious leaders, social organizations, youth groups, civil society, media, and the private sector to contribute actively in promoting social harmony, developing a sense of respect for all religions and communities, and creating a unified environment.
It emphasized that lasting peace and stability can only be achieved through collective efforts.
The Nepal Chamber of Commerce also stated that economic prosperity and social harmony are complementary to each other, and that a stable and secure environment is necessary for business, industry, and investment to flourish.
It expressed its commitment to supporting the affected businesses, promoting community cooperation, and rebuilding public trust.
The Chamber also believed that the private sector can play a crucial role in reconstruction, revival, and establishing long-term peace and prosperity through cooperation with the government, local communities, and stakeholders.
Finally, the Nepal Chamber of Commerce appealed to all Nepalis to prioritize tolerance, dialogue, and national unity over division, conflict, and differences, and to further strengthen the country’s glorious tradition of social harmony, tolerance, and unity.
