Madhes-centric parties call for impartial probe into Sunsari incident

Madhes-centric parties have called for an impartial investigation into the Sunsari incident, justice for the victims, and the restoration of social harmony.

In a joint statement, they stated that the state agencies should have maintained restraint and impartiality in the aftermath of the communal tension. However, they expressed concerns over the police intervention and suppression following the incident.

The parties alleged that the Prime Minister’s silence and the Home Minister’s activities during the five-day unrest in Madhes were questionable and further fueled the incident.

They urged the Prime Minister to address the nation immediately, assuring all citizens of peace, harmony, justice, and the rule of law. They also demanded that the state declare the deceased as martyrs, provide adequate compensation, arrange free treatment for the injured, and take serious measures to prevent infiltration into the movement.
