Madhesh Province Leaders Appeal for Peace Amid Tensions

Madhesh Province Chief Surendra Laxmi Karn and Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav have issued separate public appeals to maintain social harmony and peace in the province.

The appeals come after tensions rose between two communities in the province, prompting the local administration to impose a curfew in several districts.

Appeal for Peace

Province Chief Karn, in his appeal, described Madhesh as a beautiful garland of diverse cultures, traditions, and faiths. He emphasized that despite differences in faith and traditions, the people of Madhesh have always stood together in times of joy and sorrow.

Karn urged the people to put aside their misunderstandings and revive the traditional trust, friendship, and neighborly love. He called upon the people to spread the light of peace, security, and brotherhood in their homes and communities.

Government’s Commitment to Peace

Chief Minister Yadav, in his appeal, emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace, social harmony, and the rule of law. He called upon various stakeholders, including political parties, organizations, religious leaders, intellectuals, teachers, students, civil society, the private sector, and the media, to play a responsible and cooperative role in maintaining peace and social harmony.

Yadav assured that the provincial government is committed to protecting the constitutional and legal rights of citizens and upholding the rule of law.

The situation in Madhesh remains tense, with security personnel deployed in large numbers to maintain law and order. The local administration has imposed a curfew in several districts to prevent any further escalation of violence.
