A landslide and flood have caused chaos in Kageshwori Manohara municipality-8, Kirant Tol, with locals struggling to cope with the aftermath.
The problem of landslides and floods in the area has been recurring every year during the monsoon season. Locals claim that the landslide from Lab Danda, which is under the Pasupati Area Development Fund, has caused soil and rocks to accumulate, making it difficult for rainwater to drain.
This has resulted in the risk of flooding in the area, with roads and settlements at risk of being inundated. Locals have also reported incidents of motorbikes and scooters skidding on the roads due to the soil and rocks that have accumulated on the roads.
Local resident Karma Sherpa expressed concerns about the increased risk of accidents and urged the authorities to take immediate action to address the issue. Despite repeated complaints, the fund has not taken necessary action to address the problem, locals have alleged.
Locals had requested the authorities to take measures to protect the hill, prevent soil erosion, and ensure proper drainage before the monsoon season, but their requests have fallen on deaf ears.
