Kathmandu. Former Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Bhupendra Bhandari, has been arrested.
According to the Nepal Police, Bhandari was arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Thursday night from Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, as part of an investigation into the smart cell auction case.
CIB spokesperson Anupam Shamsher Rana said Bhandari was arrested on Thursday night from Dhapakhel, Lalitpur. The CIB has been investigating the smart cell auction for a month and a half.
The smart cell auction took place on Ashoj 20, 2082, with Nepal Investment Mega Bank winning the bid for Rs 4.60 billion. The police have been investigating the auction, alleging that it was conducted in contravention of the law.
