A curfew imposed in Birgunj has been lifted, according to the Parsa District Administration Office. The curfew, which had been in place from 5:00 pm to 6:00 am since Shrawan 14, was lifted after protests in the area subsided.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Bhola Dahal stated that the decision to lift the curfew was made after processions and demonstrations in Birgunj returned to normal. The curfew was initially imposed following a violent incident in Golbazar, Siraha, which led to widespread protests by the Hindu community and various Hindu organizations.
However, after an eight-point agreement was reached between the victim’s family and the government, the funeral procession was able to proceed, and the protests were temporarily suspended. As a result, normal life, markets, industries, and transportation services in Birgunj and surrounding areas have resumed.
