US President Donald Trump has announced that talks with Iran will resume on Monday, amid heightened tensions between the two countries.
Mr Trump made the announcement on social media, stating that the proposed agreement would include the immediate and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and address concerns over Iran’s nuclear program.
The Iranian foreign ministry has confirmed that talks with the US are imminent, but has not provided further details.

‘He is now turning to diplomatic solutions to avoid military escalation, but there is no clear path to a diplomatic or military victory for Trump.’
The announcement comes as Mr Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have not had a phone conversation, despite Mr Netanyahu being a strong supporter of maintaining pressure on Iran.
