Dr Dilli Harijan, an intern doctor at a hospital in Kathmandu, has begun a hunger strike in front of the Maitighar building.
Dr Harijan has put forward several demands, including the implementation of the report submitted by the government-formed task force, equal working hours for all types of hospitals as per the Labour Act 2074, and making hostel accommodation optional for MBBS and BDS students.
He has also demanded the refund of educational fees charged by teaching hospitals in contravention of the rules.
Dr Harijan has stated that he has gone on hunger strike for the rights of current and future medical students.
Other intern doctors have expressed their support for Dr Harijan’s hunger strike.
