Underground Power Lines in Bharatpur Go Live

Eleven kilovolt underground power lines in Bharatpur have begun operations under the underground electrification project.

The Pokhara-Bharatpur Distribution System Reinforcement Project, under the Nepal Electricity Authority, started the trial operation of the power lines from early morning today.

According to Project Chief Anand Suvedi, the 11 kilovolt underground and overhead transmission lines from the Aaptari sub-station to Aaptari Chowk, Pokhara Bus Park, Lila Chowk, Pulchok, and New Road, along the banks of the Narayani River, have been charged.

As the power lines are being charged for the first time, there is a risk of safety hazards, and consumers have been urged to exercise special caution.

They have been requested not to touch or approach electrical poles, transformers, feeder pillars, and other electrical equipment or structures in the area.

Similarly, parents have been asked to prevent children from playing near electrical structures and to exercise high caution while walking or driving on roads where underground cables have been laid.

Chief Suvedi said, ‘No excavation, digging, or wire cutting should be done in the charged area without permission.’

With the completion of the underground cable laying work, the power lines have been charged.
