US President Donald Trump has announced that a planned military operation against Iran has been put on hold for the time being.
Mr. Trump made the announcement on social media platform Truth Social on Sunday, claiming that a preliminary framework for an agreement with Iran has been reached.
According to Mr. Trump, despite the US having the largest military power since World War II, the operation has been suspended temporarily due to requests from Iran and some other countries in the Middle East.
He stated that the proposed agreement includes the immediate, complete, and unobstructed opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the elimination of Iran’s nuclear threat.
Mr. Trump said that the decision to cancel the attack was made with consideration for the future of the world, the stability of Iran, and its prosperity.
He also claimed that Israel has agreed to this decision and urged all parties to finalize the agreement as soon as possible.
However, the detailed information about the agreement and the official reaction of the parties involved have not been made public yet.
