Search for Three Missing Passengers Continues in Sun Koshi River

A search operation is ongoing in the Sun Koshi River in Nepal for three missing passengers, including a driver and two assistants, after a car they were traveling in plunged into the river on Monday morning.

The incident occurred when a bus, heading from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga, collided with the car, which was parked on the roadside, causing it to fall into the river. The missing passengers have been identified as Dil Bahadur Tamang, a construction businessman from Sindhupalchok, Ganesh Thapa, a excavator driver from Golanjor, and Sujan Mager, an excavator assistant from Patan.

A team of divers from the Armed Police Force, along with the Nepal Police and local authorities, are using a dredger to search for the missing car and passengers. However, the search operation has been challenging due to the murky waters and strong currents of the Sun Koshi River.

“The search operation is being hampered by the strong currents and murky waters of the river,” said Bijay Shrestha, a sub-inspector of police who is leading the search operation.

Meanwhile, talks are underway between the affected parties, local representatives, and security agencies to reopen the blocked Mid-Hill Highway. The family of the missing passengers has demanded action against the bus driver, alleging that he was reckless and caused the accident.
