Nepal Urges Industries to Adopt Quality Mark

Nepal’s Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Gauri Kumari Yadav, has called on domestic industries and businesses to adopt the Nepal Standard (NS) mark to promote local products, ensure quality goods for consumers, and reduce dependence on foreign imports.

During a meeting with the Director-General of the Nepal Standard and Metrology Department, Kumari Jyoti Joshi, and other officials, Minister Yadav emphasized the need to expand the scope of the NS mark to ensure the quality of goods produced in Nepal.

She stressed that the NS mark is essential for the easy sale and distribution of domestically produced goods in the local market and to increase consumer trust. The government has decided to provide necessary incentives to businesses and simplify the process of obtaining the NS mark.

Minister Yadav also mentioned that products with the NS mark can be easily exported and sold in international markets. The ministry will simplify all necessary procedures to facilitate this.

Currently, various industrial products in Nepal, such as cement, rods, and tires, have obtained the NS mark. Recently, domestically produced sanitary pads have also received the NS mark. However, many industries and companies still need to obtain the mark, and the ministry has urged them to complete the necessary procedures on time.
