Nepal Implements Revised National Transport Policy After 25 Years

Nepal’s government has implemented a revised national transport policy, nearly 25 years after the previous policy was introduced. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has issued the ‘National Transport Policy, 2083’, which aims to develop an integrated, accessible, safe, green, and technology-friendly transport system.

According to the ministry, the new policy prioritizes the development of a modern and effective transport system by coordinating road, rail, water, and air transport. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal said the policy focuses on improving the quality of public transport, enhancing road safety, promoting environmentally friendly technology, and expanding digital systems.

The government revised the transport policy, taking into account changing technology, increasing urbanization, climate change, and sustainable development goals. The revised policy aims to address these challenges and provide a more efficient and sustainable transport system for the country.
