Two Held with 578 Grams of Brown Sugar in Nepal

Two individuals have been arrested by the police in Nepal’s Banka district with a substantial quantity of brown sugar.

The suspects, identified as Sushil Bhandari, 30, and Arun Kumar Jayswal, 55, were apprehended by a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Nepalgunj branch on Sunday.

According to police spokesperson Inspector Durga Raj Regmi, 578.95 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the duo. Initially, 153.959 grams of brown sugar were seized from Bhandari in Nepalgunj-4. Further investigation led to the discovery of an additional 425 grams of brown sugar at Jayswal’s residence.

The arrests were made based on information that the pair had been purchasing brown sugar from Bahra, India, and selling it in various districts of Karnali and Lumbini provinces.

In addition to the brown sugar, the police also recovered a set of scales used for measuring narcotics, 180,000 Nepalese rupees, and 214,000 Indian rupees. Both suspects have been handed over to the District Police Office in Banka.
