Nepal’s Small Industries Federation Expresses Concern Over Unrest

Nepal’s Federation of Small and Cottage Industries has expressed concern over the recent unrest in various parts of the country, particularly in the Tarai region.

The federation stated that the tension, social unrest, and violent incidents in areas such as Dhanusha’s Devanagunj and Kapilvastu’s Kapilvastu have affected the small and cottage industries, which are already struggling due to limited capital, local market, and daily transactions.

According to the federation, such incidents have weakened the confidence of entrepreneurs and affected the production and supply system.

The federation emphasized that Nepal’s national stability and economic prosperity are based on social harmony, tolerance, and mutual trust, given the country’s diverse ethnic, linguistic, religious, and cultural identity.

Call for Peace and Stability

The federation appealed to all parties to adopt restraint and resolve any problems or differences through the constitution, law, dialogue, and mutual understanding, rather than through violence or confrontation.

The federation also urged the government, local administration, and security agencies to ensure effective peace and security in the affected areas, protect the lives and property of industries and the general public, and create an environment conducive to economic activities.

Furthermore, the federation called on citizens, political parties, civil society, religious leaders, media, and the private sector to be cautious of rumors, misinformation, and provocative expressions on social media and other platforms, and to strengthen national unity, social harmony, and mutual trust.

The federation reiterated its commitment to collaborating with the government, private sector, and all stakeholders to create a peaceful, secure, and business-friendly environment.
