Nepal MPs Stress Need for Social Harmony Amidst Crisis

Nepal’s lawmakers have emphasized the need for maintaining social harmony amidst the current crisis, as they addressed various pressing issues in the country.

During a special session of the National Assembly, lawmakers drew the government’s attention to the need for resolving farmers’ problems, creating employment opportunities for the youth within the country, and taking effective measures to control human trafficking.

Call for Action

MP Samjana Devkota stressed the need for the government and local authorities to take proactive steps to reduce communal tensions in Sunsari and Madhes Province. She also emphasized the importance of creating employment opportunities for the youth within the country and promoting social harmony.

MP Rajendra Lakshmi Gaire highlighted the emergence of new forms of human trafficking and the need for an effective strategy to control it. She expressed concern over the increasing number of people, including women, men, and children, going missing while searching for employment abroad and falling prey to human traffickers.

Gaire also urged the government to prioritize the resolution of the long-standing issue of Sukumbasi, a community of landless people.
