Nepal Home Minister Holds Talks with Hindu Protesters

Nepal’s Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has held talks with representatives of the Hindu Morcha, a group that has been protesting in the country. The meeting, which was held at the District Administration Office in Janakpur, did not result in an agreement in the first phase of talks.

The protesters presented their demands to the Home Minister, which include an investigation into alleged government suppression of Hindu groups and a declaration of Nepal as a Hindu state.

According to Home Minister Gurung, all parties presented their views during the meeting, and it was agreed to reconvene after an hour. Gurung stated, ‘Everyone presented their views. We listened seriously. We will try to find an agreement through continuous discussion and dialogue on their demands.’

Hindu leader Deepu Sanatanii said that the protesters had presented their demands, which include making Hinduism the primary religion of the country.
