Nepal’s road network has been severely disrupted due to heavy rains, landslides, and floods in various parts of the country. The Nepal Police reported that several major highways and roads have been affected, with some completely blocked and others restricted to nighttime travel.
The BP Highway connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli has been partially blocked due to the risk of flooding, with all vehicles prohibited from traveling between 6 pm and 4 am. Similarly, the Kantipath road has also been restricted to nighttime travel, with all vehicles banned from 5 pm to 5 am.
The Ilam Municipality-9 Mechi Highway has been completely closed due to heavy rainfall, which has made the road impassable. In Sindhupalchok, the Arniko Highway has been blocked due to landslides in the Jirikhilo and Kodari areas.
In Dolakha, the Lamabagar-Ramechhap road section has been blocked due to the Sama Koski River overflowing and eroding the road. In Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu road section has been completely blocked due to the Trishuli River overflowing and eroding the road.
The police have urged travelers to exercise caution and check the road conditions before traveling, especially during the monsoon season when the risk of landslides and floods is high.
